What’s the story ?

Breh had charisma and common sense. if I remember correctly his brother played professional ball and his parents had skrilla.
His demise somewhat reminded me of Pac, too early and preventable.

I saw this shyt movin in like a slow train during the late 90's early 2000...during that drought era. Same with the Arabs, them nikkas couldn't be out in the streets with us. they had liquor store detail and that was it. Now the Side Shows look like Tijuana and Sunday's at Lake Merritt look like a Benetton Ad.

There was a big market for Bay music in L.A., Seattle, KC, Detroit, Ohio etc. The only reason the demand for Bay music died down is because Bay music has dried up because Bay hoods are gentrified as fukk now... that’s why Larry June raps about Whole Foods for Gods sake.

Master P came to the Bay in the 90’s but hella Bay nikkas in the rap game made the opposite migration and made moves to the NO in the 90’s. We knew about Cash Money before they blew up in the mid 90’s because of the back and forth exchange. Most nikkas stay in the same 30 mile radius their whole life and if they do make moves across state lines, it’s on some job shyt not some independent hustler shyt.

Originally from S.F. Landed in the East. I stayed in Alvingroom (Gatewood) back in the day. Left the town and came back years later and stayed in the North. I got some history in the West as well. I got roots all over the Bay tho'. I've stomped thru the V and the Rich in my halcycon days.

Eh, not really. Bay nikkas got roots in places Louisiana and Texas which explains the Down South connection to a degree. The Bay and Detroit just have similar mindsets. Both the D and the Bay don’t have any big established gangs, both cities have hella dope and drugs, both places known for player/pimp culture and setting trends instead of following trends from other cities. KC has more of a little brother complex towards the Bay culturally whereas Detroit is more like a cousin from the Midwest who’s on the same level if that makes any sense.

But one of the reasons Bay nikkas get to the bag is because Bay nikkas got something that can’t be really bought from anybody else. Emulated but never quite duplicated. You can easily cop a costume of a NY nikka, go buy an Avirex leather, some Timbs and a Yankee hat. You can cop a DC nikka costume, buy a Helly Hansen, buy some Foamposites. But it’s hard to fake being from the Bay. Bay nikkas got the sauce. And it’s 100% independent hustle. A random Bay nikka will have his own clothing line that look like some completely unique professionally made shyt, have his own albums and videos that sound and look like some professionally produced shyt and everything. There’s a reason why Pac, Master P, the Game etc. all came to the Bay to soak up game. Or how Mustard completely jacked the Bay sound or how modern Detroit rap and Stockton rap are basically an updates of the classic Bay sound.
