No. Think about it...that would mean most of these thugs, gang members, drug dealers, whatever went to a store and put their name in a federal database forever connected to that gun.

Black folks that are not anti-gun control reconcile with it because it has come to a point where you must realize that guns will be present in our society FOREVER. So while "gun-control" is preached, those that would do you harm don't feel the same and if they come after you do you want an equal chance to fight them off?
The fact of the matter is most of the gun control measured proposed are not going to help much. Who's the number one group that society wants to keep away from guns? Criminals. And what do we know about criminals? They don't follow laws. So gun laws are meaningless to them. They deal with the black market. In 2021 13,000,000 guns were manufactured in this country. That's in one fukkin year. Have you heard any proposals by Dems to reduce the number of guns manufactured and made available to the public every year? NOPE. It's all about eliminating assault rifles and mandating universal background checks. Common sense yes, but will they make a significant dent in gun deaths? Nah. Only 6% of gun deaths come from assault rifles. And even these mass shootings can and have happened with a regular handgun. The black market makes universal background checks fairly moot.

I dont believe in a complete gun ban. But there are definitely certain guns that shouldn't be in the hands of civilians. Period.
The only thing I would modify from this post is I would change "semi-automatic weapons" to assault rifles.A national gun registry, more stringent background checks, and an outright ban on all semi-automatic weapons for one.
Guns from the black market come from straw purchases, secondary sales from private sellers and theft from gun owners. The ones flooding the black market ain't coming from foreigners and felons. They're coming from the folks with clean records that can purchase legally who then turn and sell it on the black market. If anything, our gun problem is fuelling gun violence in other countries, not the other way around.

The facts are is that states and countries with stringent gun laws, and neighbors who ALSO have such stringent gun laws, have lower gun crime rates. The presence of a "Black market" has not affected this trend.

The registry and the background checks will hurt the black market. The black market is largely fuelled by strawman purchases and secondary sales through private sellers. The risk for such sales would go up drastically if the seller 1) had the register the gun they purchase and the sale 2) conduct a background check on the individual they're selling to.

It would take the federal government to go full on fukk it mode to collect all the guns, make penalties for illegal ownership plus the enforcement on some drug war shyt to even get at the table of seriously talking about gun reform. What sense does it make when one state can have strict laws and next door they're loose. Its all fukked up because peoples' lives are being lost but its a political football used by terrible goons and it doesn't look like it will change anytime soon.
