Genetics def help. I come from a singing family and my son also shows the talent. But being exposed to it early and often helps cultivate it easier. I don't think you have to be born with it.

A lot of people want to deny this but these are the breaks.

Its the same reason why punchers are born, not made. Compared to one who comes equipped with optional extras as standard equipment the others are ice skating uphill. Doesn't mean its impossible, its just not as a simple. Often not as effective either but that doesn't mean its impossible.

Heck, plenty of artists have careers that can't sing a lick or couldn't carry a tune in a bucket so it is what it is but that OG Soul vibration comes from the pain within being vented and given expression through melody. They don't talk it. They live it.
