How do people retire from the military poor?

I have noticed that
He may only associate or be closer to people who are simmilar to him as far as drive and seriousness, That doesnt change who he /we actually know.My opinion[on this topic] is still based on a shytload of guys who actually did 20+ active duty since we actually know alot of people that served with him over the years, doesnt matter of we like/ love or hangout with them.
now if were talking about people who did 6 or 10 or 8 and we count as friends and family then that is more likely to be a result of " we like and associate with these folks and they are likeminded"
ftmp they are all doing well too.
Everyone I know in army has a motorcycle for some reason.
For real. Give an 18 year old free room, free food, free bills, and 1500 a month and see what he does with it

Bruh, when I got deployed dudes was like whatever you do save money for a motorcycle. This was in 2010. When I came home I bought a 03 r6 and couldn't even ride it. Every since then I have KEPT a motorcycle.

I'm in the Navy and been in for almost 6 years.
A lot of people in the military bank on that steady paycheck and with this credit card happy environment they try to stunt. Rent, expensive car, stunting and going out every weekend will definitely put a hurting in your pocket if you don't have any financial management skills. Which a lot of people don't.
I'm still sitting on deployment money from 2013 and my car is paid off

now here's the catch.... and the MAIN reason dudes get married so fast... YOU DON'T GET IT UNLESS THE BASE IS FULL OR YOUR RANK IS HIGH ENOUGH
they not going to give every kid, fresh out of basic, a damn house
usually you get it at e-4 or so... and first they will try to give you on base housing for free
EXCEPT WHEN YOU HAVE A FAMILY/MARRIAGE... then you can get it day 1 out of basic and school... so people will rush to get married for that check... even fake a marriage to get that check and get out of staying in a dorm room

Like one breh said that's not a retirement. The retirement comes if you put I think at least 20 years. Gotta make a career out of that shyt like a regular gig. Those cats areBut breh, all the frees shyt they get while in, then the shyt they get once they get OUT.

or should be. Dudes that do the regular stint, then get discharged don't feast like that unless they stacked their bread while they were in. Yeah, get the GI Bill, VA loans on cribs, and other perks, but I don't think they get a pension like that, at least not until they reach a certain age I think. My pops did four years in the late 60s - early 70s and he got his pension about ten years ago. It Wasn't shyt, about $800 a month. He just socks that shyt away until he starts drawing SS and his full pension from his civilian job. Hope the old man makes there

My bad, didn't see that. I guess bad money management. That and I believe the pension is based on rank too. If you didn't make officer in 20 years.
The military is a good place for a young man or women who are not in a relationship, not married, smart, knows how to save their money, and goal orientated.

go on down to a bar right outside of a major base... or those old military/veteran lodges you see all over the place
some of these dudes aren't smart... straight alcoholics... living paycheck to paycheck... can't/don't work... spending all their money on liquor and women
i'm not disagreeing... saying it's the majority of 20 plus vets
but nobody ever said it was the majority... he just asked how it happens

I just moved from Norfolk(Hampton roads) that has the highest concentration of active duty, reserve and retired military in the world and never saw any noticeable amount of 20 year vets who didn't have shyt. Lesser years? Sure
If I did meet some I would just think they're the small portion of ain't shyt mother fukkers that are in any workforce.
There's NFL and nba players that are broke as shyt 5 years out the league so there's some military dudes that are ass out 5 years out the military.
