Most folks honestly tell you they are broke because they don't want you asking them for shyt. Doesn't mean they are going home to Vienna Sausages and crackers for dinner. In fact, some folks budget out the ass for the month. I could have 200,000 in the bank but make sure to only apply 500 towards anything trivial. If I am spending 400 on this (insert expensive gadget), then I'm practically tapped out for the month as far as trivial shyt goes. I technically am broke from a budget standpoint.
Now, and this is the truth that some rich folks forget about when they get on high horses, some folks simply have too many bills and financial burdens. It could be from stupid financial decisions. It could be because they picked up the slack from some family member who hit hard times or even died and/or are on drugs of some sort and they had to take in their kids. Everybody isn't out to game the system.

I'm just saying dude on his high horse been married for 10 plus years with two good incomes coming in, living in south side chicago (no offense to anyone who lives there)
now compare that lifestyle to a single male living in nyc or la, or a married couple living in nyc where only one works and one stays home to rear the kids.
I remember years ago when I had heart problems and my meds (that didnt even work) i had a crummy health plan at work and was dishing out nearly 300 a month
