because truth is there are some very bad places where people are getting killed there still every day. if you have never been to NYC you dont understand but all over that city its filled with desperate hustlers and they will be there for you if your're not aware. even in safe manhattan you are surrounded by hustlers and jail birds at every corner looking to hustle you...go to their neighborhood your robbed and done

the difference about now and then is NYC as stated many times has went rich and gentrified. fact is if you go there you will see that there are places in nyc where people are still getting killed over drugs and game even with the highest gun laws in the country. theres hundreds of murders caused by the same ole family of hustlers

the thing about walking through and being in northeast cities is that the neighborhoods are so close and easy to patrol....there are shotspotter systems, cops all over,cameras, witnesses....its a different day but the fact remains is NYC has a huge drug market and people fight for it and they go hard and guess what most of them dont get caught......

i dont ride nycs dikk but its few hours drive south of me and i do it a few times a year and no other city ive been too and ive been around compares to nyc driving though its an animal....go to DC, Boston and now even philly and you will see that all these northeast cities are changing

whats so bad on the west coast though? La is at its lowest ever...compton used to see 65 but is now barely 20....San diego has a huge population but never seen over 65. Portland, OR has 12 and Seattle is about that....San Fran has 41.......Oakland is the only place with numbers

According to an annual NYPD report released yesterday on the state of murder in New York City, 36 percent of the 419 homicides in the city in 2012 took place in Brooklyn, making it the bloodiest of the five boroughs.

Most of the 419 murders took place in north and east Brooklyn. Three eastern Brooklyn neighborhoods—East New York, Brownsville and East Flatbush—are typically considered the most dangerous areas in Brooklyn.

The number of Brooklyn victims declined slightly as compared to 2011, a year in which the borough saw 38 percent of murders. Queens, which saw 20 percent of murders in 2012 experienced a slight increase, as did Manhattan, which had 15 percent in 2012.

While Staten Island saw just two percent of murders last year, distribution can be correlated to population size. Brooklyn has the most residents of any borough (2.5 million) compared to just 470,000 in Staten Island.

The NYPD also reported that 42 percent of murders in New York were motivated by a dispute or revenge, and 57 percent were the result of gun violence. Thirty-seven percent of homicides took places between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Race certainly played a role in the homicide rate. The NYPD notes that 60 percent of victims were black, though black New Yorkers make up 23 percent of the population. Of all victims, nearly 40 percent were black males aged 16 to 37, and 86 percent of those black males were aged 16 to 21 and were victims of gun violence.

i doubt it...sure stats show it but i know you never been. you cant even walk down the street in nyc without broke negros trying to sell you cds and hold doors open for you. these guys all have to sleep and eat somewhere and after manhattan they are in their poverty neighborhoods. NYC is still one of the biggest drug markets and trade cities and there are hundreds of murders being done there by people getting more keen on the system and not getting caught. there are dudes in nyc who are making money and will kill you....these are close neighborhoods too these guys see eachother. go to cities like houston the size of a small state and its different.
