i feel like people don't understand the importance of getting a local fanbase, and being able to increase the fanbase organically anymore. i feel like people just want that hit song and just blow up off of that.

I think it's important to keep it organic yet at the same time keep a modern business model. Sure...network with local DJs, do shows, hone your craft and fanbase from the ground up. But it'd be foolish not to also take advantage of the convenience of digital media.

that's NY

but in a lot of other places radio still is relevant

plus as much as I think Troy is wack, "About the Money" was a minor street hit
that was thanks to the NY radio playing it, at one point it even got some spin down here.

yeah i'll give you that. NY radio did help, and really it got some spin down in Houston ?

how do they, it seems like they just try to blow up from Soundcloud or IG/Twitter vids. i remember Kash Doll from Detroit said Dej Loaf's music wasn't really played in Detroit that much, it didn't played in the clubs, etc. and that she blew up from Soundcloud.

Dej shyt was so random.nikkas didn't even know who she was......While nikkas like Team Eastside,Vezzo and Pablo Skywalkin( :scust:) who got heavy local support here still waiting to really blow..

KashDoll got that young thot fanbase locked up.She Minaj status out here

yeah i agree on that, every artist needs to take advantage of the internet & social media.

i gotta say, i fukk with Detroit's rap scene, mad love from NYC. but yeah like i said, it didn't make sense for Dej to blow up if she wasn't grinding like other cats in the D, she just had a mixtape or EP that wasn't highly publicized in Detroit Rap media, then 2-3 years later, drops ''Try Me'' and blows up. i got respect for dudes who was grinding out here, i even got respect for Kash Doll for grinding and trying to make it out Detroit. i think Kash Doll might blow, she living in Atlanta & is managed by Waka Flocka mom who helped Nicki Minaj, French, her own son & Gucci.

Big sean or dej loaf didnt have a buzz in the city. Its so many rappers with a buzz here i still dont know how those 2 made it

i forgot to mention Big Sean as well too. but then again Sean rapped for 'Ye and then he offered Sean a contract. that seems like a rapper sending his demo to a record label back in the '90s or '00s

To get a buzz in detroit is kinda easy. All you got to do is get the strip clubs to start playing your shyt

that's like in Atlanta. i think whenever a bytch posts a twerk video on IG or a strip club plays a song, then guys are going to like the song. then they google it and end up bumping it and requesting it in the club. i do know some people who watch a twerk video on IG, and in the comments they say ''what's the song called ?''

i think bytches and the youth dictate what's popping in rap
