Then

There would be no incentive to start the restaurant and the first place and

bytches working for tips aren't about to open up one:francis:

Well then...if you can't pay your workers a living wage, then don't open a damn business...

When will the common people stop subsidizing the stupid ass life choices of capitalists...

I use to be a waiter/busboy, in IL tipped workers make $4.95/hourly minimum

It’s a flawed system that even i don’t understand fully. It’d be days i walk out of there with $80 then days i walk out with $15

Even if you get subpar service you should AT LEAST throw your waiter a few bucks, i remember this one girl was crying cuz she ain’t make enough money to buy her daughter diapers & formula :mjcry:

We all chipped in $5 tho

If I get 'Sub-par' I ain't giving you shyt :pacspit:

I worked for my money, what I look like giving it away to a lazy ass bum that can't even do good at taking orders and bring out food

The tipping concept has got out of hand.

They got tip jars at take out restaurants now. :francis:
That shyt irks me especially when it's a family owned joint. I'm like "Bytch you just made $12 off this orange chicken and now I'm supposed to tip?"

Restaurant I worked at back in the day would evenly distribute black folks across the restaurant. When I asked how come, they said black folks never tipped and would be unfair to have one server do all that work. I felt offended, but this brehette server said it was true:mjcry:

Learned this after I went to dinner with my parents after I became grown. They threw like $5 on a $100 bill. I slip like $17 on the table and they were fighting me and saying it was too much money. That's when I realized the stereotype was true. Lol

Tell the owners to lower their salary intakes. You can pay people fairly and have low prices for customers if the owner cuts a portion of their own money.

That's the whole point of being an owner tho lol. I used to wait tables (made good tips too).

If I own something and I'm taxing and paying cheaply BUT people are still applying to work there and customers are still going to eat there, ain't nothing to fix ( if im the owner)...I am winning.

Idk how, tipping is fukking stupid.

If we had a strong labor movement we would've gotten rid of tipping
:salute:
Sadly I don't think that will ever happen or at least not anytime soon. The culture of rich man worship in America is too strong. Working man siding with the capitalists against his own best interests, in the hopes that one day if he works hard enough he'll break through to the other side.

I never have or ever would work for fukking tips. Although I know it can be lucrative, I'll leave this dependence on support from customers to unskilled women. I try not to support this system as i feel the price of eating out is already inflated (and more importantly not worth the value provided), but like @SparkMcGwire, the few times I do, I always tip (slide the decimal to the left and double it) out of social conditioning and stigma against our people :upsetfavre:

Waiters are paid min wage and higher out here...which is $13-15+ depending on the city, I don't feel compelled to tip them, in fact some restaurants advertise how well paid their staff is and that tipping is optional :manny: furthermore restaurants have passed on 3-5% surcharges to cover health care costs, something they should be laying for, but since I'm paying for it, that's your tip.

I also don't think you guys realize how small margins are for most restaurants, 15% is considered high, most are 3-5%, that's why it's amongst the industries with the highest 1-3 year failure rates. To pay your staff regular wages could easily leave you unprofitable.

Ill apply the Costco method and cut my salary for my employees to have a better standard of living.

More loyalty from the employee, better publicity, and less stress.

How is tipping stupid breh? You know how much your chicken Alfredo would be if they paid busboys $10/hourly ?

Not to jump in (actually to jump in but not maliciously :manny:)

there are a lot of places where you don't tip. I went to Japan...you can't tip. They legit won't take your money above and beyond what you owe them for the service. It was seen as disrespectful. Cab drivers, restaurants, bars...no one wanted more money than what the service costs.

If you pay your people fairly, and charge fairly, and create a work environment where people want to work and are paid well for their work, there is no need for tipping honestly.
