To answer you straight up. NO they can not wear anything else, ever.

Imagine Jordan going to the store in reeboks. The media would kill him. Reebok would turn around and use it for promotion like "look what he really wears" and Nike would have a PR nightmare.

So in contracts it tells you what you can and can't wear. Say you sign with Nike. They'll tell you, you can wear products we don't sell. Or maybe new era hats. Suits. Dress shoes. Certain watches and shyt.

But more than likely, they'll tell you, it better be Nike. Like shirts, hats, socks, shoes. But then again, you signing 30 mil deal with Nike, they also give you all that shyt first and free. I remember in MJ's book he said he would only wear a pair of J's in 2 games before he didn't like the feel and then he'd just get overnigted some more

Now your friends and fam, they didn't sign any contract so they can wear whatever

shyt I remember when making the bond films, the told pierce bronson he could wear a tuxedo in another movie for like 3 years. They can make you do anything
This is true to an extent thats why i said if the cameras catch you its over

This is how I figured it was for the marquee guys....but what about the fringe guys? Do companies typically explicitly restrict them from wearing competitor products in their down time?

You're a college athlete? They can wear whatever they want off field in their private life, right?

yea they can wear what they want but they choose to rock the team gear, also I believe they kind of get coerced into doing it as well. Another reason why these nikkas may to get paid, plenty of students on campus cop some of the gear just cause they're rocking it.

The dude Guy Fieri who host those Food Network shows was approached by TMZ about TGIFridays menu and he was like

"I don't eat that sh1t" :scusthov:

He was drunk and forgot he was endorsed by them.... I'm sure that happens a lot with off brand products that rich people cake off but would never use themselves...

When I worked at Nike, my family and I had to "throw away" all my our adidas shoes and gear. everything had to be exclusively NIKE. Imagine getting $10 stacks worth of whatever you want for free.

Same thing pretty much. First off companies ain't offering contracts to the 15th guy on the bench. So even a J Holliday who id consider mid level type player. He still rocking Adidas everywhere he go.

It's clothing. They provide you free clothing and pay you thousands to millions to wear it. You better damn well be sure, they are not taking any chances on you doing 3 ads and never being seen in them when people catch you in real life.

Now what you attempt to get away with is on you. How hard they set up the contract to fine you or take money back when you do is on them. But somewhere in those 100 page contracts it's gonna say to wear their stuff
