This is a great thread :lawd:

I make beats as a hobby and unfortunately i don't have tons of cash to be buying these rare records so I'm looking for somesort of blog that has real obscure dark sounding type music like progressive rock shyt or some real rare soul stuff that's very hard to find especially in Canada :heh:

I know it's a big producer no no sampling digitally but I don't give a flying fukk. I need some dope ass rare shyt!

I used to frequent a few soul blogs and shyt but a lot of them are gone :birdman:

any help or insight would be dope :manny:

This is still one of the greatest in-studio videos I have ever seen. Crazy.

If you hear a particular sample that another producer flipped, serach for the album of the original sample. You may open the floodgates to 1 or 2 new samples that havent been flipped. :yeshrug:

And some people just listen to and watch other sh**. Its easy to be inspired by something that you enjoy!:thumbsup:

When I was about 13, one of my boys took me to Ken Sport's crib. Ken Sport used to make these "originals" mix tapes back in the day, with all the original tracks that people sampled. Stretch and Bobbito used to play his tapes on WKCR. Dude STILL has one of the craziest record collections ever! We went over there and dude told us to just take whatever doubles he had. We left there in a cab with mad records.

That day was when I started building my collection. I ended up getting my first MPC a few weeks after that. I used to see Buckwild and Shawn J Period at his crib all the time. The good old days!

Producers got the best job. They hear something, then chop or loop it to breathe life into it again.

But, I revered the original musicians more. It's :mindblown: to think how those musicians played their instruments to come up with these brand new compositions, which would later be resurrect from sampling. :wow:
