The musicians and artists who laid the ground work for the Hip Hop producers to sample are the ones who I am truly in awe of. People like Miles Davis, Ray Charles, James Brown, Sly Stone, Rick James, Jimi Hendrix, George Clinton (P-Funk) etc. Musicians and artists like that are the ones who are the true geniuses because they made something out of nothing and brought forth new sounds and writing that people had never heard before.
