I know ugly cats say they overcompensate with their humor or personality but surely there needs to be a physical attraction?

I've heard a few of my female friends/cousins also say this. I find it hard to believe for some reason.

So if a not so attractive guy approaches her right and has a good personality it can happen. Humor also helps.

I have a childhood ugly friend who has both the traits that you've just mentioned but always seemed to be stuck in the 'friendzone' whenever he approached attractive women. Eventually, he started dating on his level after high-school and got married around 2 years ago.
