The biggest issue is access. If the rich primarily have access to it, then the common person is fukked. They will be smarter, faster, stronger, more beautiful and better than baseline humans.

As fukked up as it is if I could influence the outcome of my son in the gestation chamber in 203X, I would. I don't want my baby to experience the same challenges that molded his daddy into The @Shadow King

but it's common sense that the way most modern medicine and tech handles biology/nature is all fukked up
their solution is always to try and force the square peg into the round space
always tryna make things what they aren't naturally
there is a path to perfection but so far they haven't found it
with every advancement they propose there is a bunch of setbacks and negatives

They'd have to understand how messing with one gene could impact other genes. And height and intelligence are also environment dependent. So there are obvious hurdles to overcome.
But given the accelerating rate of technology maybe they are able yo shorten the time frame? I hope they can because I find genetic engineering quite fascinating. I did genetically alter a few mammalian cells but they were quite simple.
The doubters will remain doubters. It's going to happen (and is already happening) and I am all for it.
