How do we teach today's kids discipline?

I work in a school and the average teen cannot sit in a class for 55 minute. I'm getting my masters and I'm bored to death at times. But I still sit there for 2-3 hours.

My niece and nephew have a hard time sitting at a table and eating their food. My pops begging over and over again to eat and they kept on playing around. I had to literally make them sit down, and told them they couldn't get up from the table until they finished eating. They of course was mad but I didn't care. And they're 9. I had to treat them like they was 3.

Now, I believe in whoopings but that's def. not enough. What is the key to changing kids around and teaching them discipline? I don't see a lot of the future generation making it mainly for this reason.

consistency, i might catch flack for it but reward them for good behavior cuz it at least teaches them to work for what they want n everything is not just given. ive dealt with this myself cuz its like u behave n do right n u get nothin whats the point of doing good if u not being acknowledged ... my daughter has to earn her j's n she got mo pairs than i do, she keeps them grades a1 no discipline problems out her teachers except for 1 time n after i whooped her ass n took all her electronics she had to write an apology letter to her teacher....the teacher called n thanked me cuz usually teachers pleas fall on deaf ears... work hard play hard

Beatings is not gonna teach a kid to sit still. That's only going to cause resentment.

They have a lot of energy. They need a way to expend that energy. Get them into sports, take them bike riding, swimming or rollerskating, play a game of charades, go for a walk or to the park. Sometimes the energy may be mental so they can play educational games, read books, draw, write, paint, etc.

That was one of the biggest problems between me and my mother. I felt that she never noticed when I did anything good or appreciated it. I was always getting in trouble so eventually I was no longer afraid of it, it became expected.

Relentless repetition. If they are fortunate to have a two patent household, it needs to be enforced by both of them. Nothing irks me more than seeing one parent undermine another when it comes to discipline. That also extends to Grandparents, Auntys, Uncles, older cousins etc. Consistent uniform unrelenting repetition.

Yup that united front is the best way to deliver discipline for a child.

Make them think. Rewards work but making them understand their choices builds character. Rewards alone teaches them to be actors. Guilt is GOAT.

That's a question I've been thinking about for the longest shyt makes me afraid to bring a child into this fuked up world way to many distractions and its so easy to access everything in life good and bad. I feel you can parent at home but through social media phones internet kind of hard to shield or discipline your child when its nothing but fukkery going on in the world today. Good Topic

I take away things they love as punishment and make em clean up more than usual when they act up or take away their tv or read a book or even write front and back of a paper i will listen to on each line

I always try to give em a warning usually with the tone of my voice since I can be very loud

I also reward them when they are well behaved too and give them allowance money not just for chores but good behavior and good grades

I like for my kids to be responsible for their actions and understand the consequences of it too when it's wrong so they can learn from it and learn not too lie and always tell the truth I even say if u tell the truth either u won't get in trouble or very little trouble which I keep my end of the deal but when u lie u get blasted with punishment for lying or lying and trying to get the other person in trouble with them

I have 4 kids and rarely have serious issues with them sure they piss me off at times but their kids and they act respectful in public and respond with yes sir and yes ma'am to even other people

i too was the same way growing, im trying to different with my daughter tho, i see all the places i fucced up as a teenager and ill be dayumned if i let my daughter follow my hoe str...ummmfootsteps....
