How do yall add change ups in your beats to keep songs from being repetetive?

Im asking this question because I usually create melodies within the 8 to 16 bar register and have it loop while adding sounds. samples im more laid back with because of the layers that usually already exist. Theirs this one friend I have who says some of my beats can be repetetive at times and I should put in more change ups. So im asking what do you do to keep your beats with enough change ups to stay fresh.

I usually finish and track out the beat 100% with no change ups. After that, Ill start letting the beat play from start to finish and start rapping over it to see where I could put a break or change up in. Or I might play an acapella over the beat and randomly start taking out parts of the beats at certain times to see how a rapper would sound over it when I do it. Another thign Ill try is to just listen to songs and see where other producers/rappers put thier change ups and what they did, put it in my beat, and see how it sounds.

Mute and solo out certain parts of ur tracks to create transitions. Switch up ya drum hi hat patterns or throw in some more sounds like crashes on the hooks. Chop ur loop and rearrange the parts to create a switch up. Get a turntable and add a scratch hook. Eqs and fx help as well to add track variation, maybe add some live instrumentation or play some keys. there's a ton of stuff u can do.

never follow a format. If you feel like changing up a beat 7 times in one song (as long as it sounds good) why shouldn't you? typically, shyt follows the 16 bar verse, 8 bar hook format, and sometimes its cool to stay in that realm, but its about what you do with those bars.

beats with no vocals will sound repetitive, a lot of good songs are simple loops of 4 bars with no break ups, so really theres no formula...

when i make a beat, ill keep the change ups to a minimum, but when the vocal are in and u r doing a SONG (not a beat), then u star puttin twists to the beat, mute or solo stuff, add filter automations and shyt...

but while its just a beat, let it simple and let the rapper be free to flow just how he like....

Exactly like said above. People forget there's vocals to go over the tracks.
