I’ll usually end my nights on my porch, or in my garage listening to some music and sipping on a drink.

I feel you on the motorcycle. That’s my plan. Always said I wanted one, and to take a few weeks off to cruise the US. Plan on doing that within the next 5 years

Perhaps the phrase "asking of the lord" is a bit misleading

rather before I know how or what to speak, I ask of the lord...if that makes more sense...

so I'm not sure if it's purely a heart or brain thing, more of your whole being (like breathing). What we are given in return is what God decides. When I pray it's your typical bow, close my eyes, and speak plainly in a soft tone my thanks and my desires for mercy. I have taught myself to reconsider the nature of how God deals with us on a daily basis. If you believe in the living God you must also believe that God is actively working on our behalf constantly not just in a piecemeal fashion.

this is why i shun ritual in general

ritualistic thinking can make us think God desires us to be specific before him outside of what hes commanded. I've come to see the two sides people take when they read scripture, you can look at it and see what it says to you, or you can look at it and see what it says through you.

Monday thru Thursday since I have to be up to work from home at 7am

Usually finished eating by 6pm… watch some news/sports, take a shower and lay down and set my tv to shut off by itself by midnight

At the end of the day i'm stupid.
I got a hiking trail 10 minutes away from my house by foot
I should hike way more often, it's a flat trail though, but still beautiful with loads of birds and ponds and beautiful trees.
It's a really long one too with multiple paths and even has a mountain, well more like a huge hill.

I also want to start stretching before bed

Honestly, I need to pray every night before bed and after waking up. People always ask "what is that gonna help?" and my reply is "what is it gonna hurt?"

It's not going to hurt but it is futile, and making anything that is futile a routine is a bad habit.
I will admit though, that's a great discipline you got there though, it'll be great if you applied it somewhere else where you get something in return.

A wise man once said "I used to pray every night until I realized I was just praying to myself".

Really think about it.
If you asking for success in life who you really asking?
If you asking for happiness who you really asking?
If you praying for giving thanks for the food on your table which you worked for who you really giving thanks to?

Currently reading to my son then coding for a half hour, then reading a chapter of a Kindle book in bed.

When winter time comes I’m usually taking a hot bath for about an hour.

I’ve found myself praying more often too. Not so much in a religious sense…more meditative and appreciation for health, home, happy kids, and life in general.
