HOW do you convince yourself it’s okay to just walk by homeless people? What excuses do you use?

My endz is full of Romanian beggars and heroin addicts PRETENDING to be homeless, I got nothing but my middle finger for them.

When I was a club promoter I used to hire college age kids that lived in the youth hostels downtown to hand out my cards in the district. A lot of em were on drugs heavy or alcohol. One dude named Corey I became close to was strong able bodied so I got him a gig bar backing. Probably the worst idea.... First night in the club he was cocked out his mind. He started hanging with the DJ and sleeping at his crib and got semi clean. He even got girl for a minute but she caught on to his habit and peaced out. One time he stole one of my shirts while we were working from a locker. Then my boy whom he was staying with said he caught him shooting up in his crib and kicked him out.

He ended up having to rent an unfinished basement and had an agreement with the landlord to help him renovate for a place to stay. Breh couldn't stay straight. He ended up coming to me with a plot to rob an armored car. I looked at him like

He mentioned it so casual like it was nothing. I didn't touch the subject. Slowly he stopped coming to the club and next time I seen him he was back to looking like the living dead. He is probably dead or locked up right now. When I met him had just finished serving time. There was a lot of good dudes out there but you can't save em from themselves.

I help when I can, if it's payday and I don't owe anything I'll give them a couple dollars. There's times when I had only $60 to my name to last till Friday and I've still given bums a dollar or two, mainly black bums becaus I know cacs don't care

and i'm not obligated to give my money or time to every homeless person, i'd go broke or never sleep with how deep they are out here. i help who i want to help when i want to help someone

But in your brain, me not giving a heroin addict 1$ is exactly the same as the super rich lobbying and passing legislation to fukk over millions of people

This year (and really the middle of last year) I said I’d try to help every homeless person I came across

And I have

I got 1 a job at a Trader Joe’s after helping him get his social security card and ID,

A couple of others jobs at mcdonalds

And the rest into shelters around the city

All it takes is 30 dollars to really help a homeless person

The first thing you ask them, is do they have any felonies, if they say no, then your job going forward is easy. Offer them coffee or a quick fast food bite

Take down their information and help them find a job.

How can you just walk by without helping? Why is that okay? What do you tell yourself to make yourself feel better about it?

This doesn't make sense.... if a homeless person wanted to work, he wouldn't be on the street begging
