How do you differentiate real love from infatuation/attraction?

How would you know if your in love with someone as opposed to just being attracted to their looks?

What are the guidelines to differentiate between the two?

That's probably only something you can answer. I mean how do you define love anyways? It's all abstract so only you can really answer that question

My distinction between true love and infatuation is when I cease trying to excuse the persons shortcomings. Once I can admit and accept that they do shyt that's annoying or messed up, I know I love them and am done with infatuation. When I don't have to make excuses for their habits and tendencies, and I can just say "That's the way she is", without having any shame because the pros outweigh the cons in my mind by that time.

Only happened once though, but that's what I picked up from it.

I've been in love twice in my life and both times it was obvious, at those moments in my life both were "worth it", there were moments with both women that it was easier to jet but I stuck it out, even when temptations sometimes arose from hotter women i Never faltered

Many people will tell you they love you or whatever then you lose your job, or battling a illness or low spot in your life and they are gone.

I remember my brother in law telling me how he was engaged before marrying my sister, and his fiance at the time dumped him when he lost his job, and how since he';s been with my sister he lost his job twice yet she never left.

This is so true. Especially with my ex. I've been battling an illness for a while and was at a real low spot and she just couldn't take it. She couldn't wait until I got better. She never really loved me like I thought she did.

I've had the same thing happaned to me but i was just with this chick for a few months, I had a ulcer and palpitations was in the hospital like every week doing tests etc. and she couldn't "handle it", even though she would tell me a story about her sick dog how she stayed up all night cleaning up his vomit and spent thousands on the vet and ish but she couldn't handle me just being in the hospital

Anyways I look at situations like that as a blessing, if someone can't be with me in the muck they don't deserve to be with me in the blessings

But when you do start chatting to them and get to know them then you start developing feelings for them.
