Some artists actually save their money and invest it in a lot of different opportunities and things. Not everybody spends their money as soon as they get it, some are actually frugal with it.

D'angelo is in the middle of a 13 year sabbatical, right? And he left on top.

In 2007, Eve began work on a new album titled Here I Am. XXL magazine profiled six recorded tracks from Here I Am. Five of them were produced by Swizz Beatz, including singles "Tambourine" and "Give It To You" (featuring Sean Paul). XXL published a review of the original Here I Am in July, rating it an L in its "shoe size" rating system ranging from S to XXL. The project was delayed to October 16, but it was never released. Problems at her label, Interscope Records, were responsible for the multiple delays. The album was renamed twice from "Here I Am" to "Flirt" to "Lip Lock". Lip Lock was expected to be released during 2011, but it was again delayed. The album Lip Lock is now set to be released under Eve's own label FTR Music on May 14, 2013, it will be distributed through Sony/RED.

Since 2007, Santana has been recording material for his third album, Born to Lose, Built to Win. In late 2009 he released "Mixin' Up the Medicine" featuring Yelawolf.

In 2010, he released "Back to the Crib" featuring Chris Brown. In June 2010, the Dipset reunion began with a teaser titled "Under Construction" and a street single, "Salute" produced by Araabmuzik. It is known that he is working on a new album with The Diplomats.

In late 2012 Santana stated he is still working on his third studio album Born to Lose, Built to Win and that it's set to be released in 2013, succeeding his newly announced mixtapes God Will'n and God Will'n Vol. 2.

In January 2008, "Ching-a-Ling" was released as the lead single for the Step Up 2 the Streets soundtrack. "Shake Your Pom Pom", produced by Timbaland, is also on the soundtrack. In an interview with Elle Magazine in June 2009, Elliott announced the album Block Party and announced an Autumn 2009 release, but was later pushed back a fourth time to 2010.

In January 2012, news surfaced that "Nobody's Perfect" would be the third single from J. Cole's debut album. The video was shot and released on March 2012 making it Missy's first video appearance since 2010.

On September 18, 2012, Missy released two new singles ("9th Inning" and "Triple Threat") exclusively to iTunes. Her album has been pushed back to 2013.

its not about making money. How do you consider yourself a musician and only release one album in 10 years.....rihanna is a beast. Pac was a beast. Wayne ans ross putting out music

Releasing music yearly doesn't exactly make an artist a musician either. For example, Sade and Maxwell took 10 years off, came back with quality albums and sold on par or better than their contemporaries. Both wrote/co-wrote, produced/co-produced their own material.

On the other hand, an artist like Rihanna just has to show up to the studio and perform because most, if not all of her material is written and produced by someone else.

On some real shyt, they'd probably drop something if people actually wanted to hear somethin' from them. What's the point?

Gettin' another hustle is best. Funny thing is, cats always say they invested in "real estate" when they fall off the face of the planet and become irrelevant.
