My current car is stick shift, I love it better than any of the automatics I've had. Learned how to drive stick through a friend at a Honda dealership back in '97, had me out in a del Sol going through gears in traffic in 5 days. Co-worker bought a Hyundai sports car, stick, couldn't drive it off the lot cause he didn't know how. He rides motorcycles, had me looking at him like :beli: :wtf:, how you riding bikes and can't drive stick?

I think talk of the death of stickshift is overblown. A lot of cars that only had stickshift because their automatic boxes were BASURA lost em and nobody cared. Nobody is crying for a stickshift Camry 4 banger. But right now we have cars like the Ford ST hatches, the new Mustang, the Cayman GT4 etc. Most small cars like the Civic, Elantra etc come in stickshift. All the affordable performance cars from the GTI to the 911 are available with stickshift. So there aren't as many cars available with stickshift but the ones that have it are :noah:

Its all about take rates... cars like the Miata, GTI, Corvette, 911 etc have like a 50% manual take rate compared to like a 0.00000000000000000000000000005% manual take rate in something like a Camry. I'm on my 7th stickshift car and I'm not worried.

Depends on the car, but I think it's bad if the smaller cars and hatchbacks lose the option for a manual transmission.

I don't know about that. On certain models stickshifts are still possible, I just got my daughter a 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT in stick and she loves it. It's easy to use (real smooth) and has most of the safety features you get in an automatic.
