look... as said before on the cawli the fact of the matter is that to start paying fast food workers $15 an hour is to DRAMATICALLY raise the bar across all sectors of employment...one cannot happen without the other...people are not going to college and getting entry level positions, (or positions that require a BA or Associates at least) to be earning the same as someone with only a GED flipping burgers...if that.

Only reason $15 an hour seems so absurd is because the vast majority of people are underpaid relative to the rising cost of living. Housing, insurance, energy...all going up. The days of teens having the lions share of fast food jobs are over. Now its illegals and full-grown people who are trying to recover from a system that screwed them. There is nothing wrong with $15 an hour, but its only feasible if everyone is getting paid better, so even "well to do" lookin mofos aren't 2 paychecks away from being poor. We got fools telling people being poor is their fault, while the higher ups wages increase more an more. Add labor arbitrage and automation...the little guy is getting fukked and blamed for his own misfortune.

Nothing screams white trash louder than the belief that this country is actually a meritocracy and compensation is commensurate with skills.

Teachers making 30K a year while some 22 year old Stanford grad just raised millions in seed funding for developing an app that literally only texts the word "Yo." But yeah, fast food workers making $15 an hour would be unfair.
