There is simply so much of everything these days. Songs, shows, games, feeds, reads, streams.... The list is endless and steadily increasing at a dizzying rate.

I've always been quite a discerning cat but wow, its got to the point where the signal to noise ratio is so immense (and generally augmented ie fake reviews/hype etc) that it almost takes way too much effort when considering the returns. Not just entertainment but across the academic fields as well as the data is just being churned out perpetually with little cross collation or study.

I legit would pay good money for someone to offer a "Just the facts, ma'am" service that cut to the chase and trimmed all the waste on everything. Put some respect on my attention or face disconnection.

Some people just seem to like these "great value" things with 25% real deal and 75% fillers but I'd rather have a pure G than a tap danced Ki.

listen to what you want, watch what you want, read what you want, play what you want and don't fall into the peer pressure of "everyone on social is talking about this so I HAVE to pay attention to it". most of that shyt is botted and paid influencers anyway

gets easier as you get older

Yup. Be selective in what you give your attention to. Internet getting so extreme and fake that i just hit up the coli, news articles from my new tab screen, and check out my YouTube channels.

And the occasional scroll thru TikTok and ig to see if some bad ones dropped

I can barely keep up with so much these days...especially online.

I really do think there are quite a few ways to interpret this thread and I feel you get where I'm at with it.

The creative/learner sees data (in whatever form) as inspiration and thus part of their evolution as it provides the raw material for something you'll make later. Much like food however you can't expect to eat fast food all day and be on top form. It also distracts from practice time/honing your skills when you spend too much time digging/engaged on theory as opposed to practice.

Thats pretty much the same thing because I can take or leave the net really (especially for entertainment - although I'm online way more the past few than usual) but when it comes to learning stuff in areas that interest me there is just so much popping in so many areas and its speeding up exponentially.

Its also designed in quite a pernicious way as well but thats by the by because I'm certain in the future the net will be declared bad for your health just like Doctors used to smoke cigarettes in the consulting office.

Don't disagree. Previously I've been on huge chunks of staying offline and making entertainment a treat after productivity but this was moreso based on what I've been noticing online over the past few years.

Its mainly the padding really though. Everything is stepped on to increase volume from youtube videos to blog posts, research articles and books.

Go back and look over something published in 2015 in pretty much any medium and compare it now and you'll see what I mean about the bloat.
