I was in the Navy and this was very common. People will test you in the navy to try and take advantage of you. I peeped it when I reported to my ship and I ended up shutting it down real quick. Some people were unlucky though. By take advantage I mean things like assigning that same person berthing cleaners or simply using that one person as an emotional punching bag. This stuff happens after high school breh. The funniest part is that if you decide to beat someone's ass for fukkin with you, you risk going to captain's mast or getting a dishonorable discharge if the fight is bad enough.
Seems stupid as fukk. A shame they can't just work together and get shyt done

I'm not somebody the average person can intimidate physically. My attitude (now, not so much when I was younger) is pretty laid back...I give good energy, I get back good energy.

You would kinda have to be going out of your way to "test" or try me, not too many people are willing to take that gamble.

That would be the marines and army. The navy and air force are much easier than the marines and army. As a result ship life often feels like high school. A lot of the people that you will meet in the Navy are people straight from the country (the midwest) or the inner cities of America (usually the hood). When these kind of people have nothing to keep them busy (navy and air force) they spend their days clowning people and doing high school sh$t. I had a 30 year old dude on my ship that would hang out with some of the 18 year olds on my ship. He taught them that they should "roll the dice" and that the most important thing in life is a nice chain. I am not making this up. Breh would take the 18 year olds on our ship to walmart with him so that he could pick up women at walmart.

I deal with the same shyt in the military. I’m curious to know how y’all dealt with it.

Like others said were not back home, we got 9-5 tryna get it right for our future families. Gotta move smart but at the same time can’t be a bxtch

Honestly if
1) being black didn't mean you can get into a simple fight and cops come through and execute you or throw you in a cell and forget about you and
2) I cared less about my folks losing a child cause I don't know who has a gun or knife and can't fight

My fuse would probably be shorter. I've always been that way. The one fight I got into as a kid I walked away from because we were play cousins and I didn't want to disappoint my mother and aunt.

I be living in the future too much to get irate over dumb shyt that lasts 3 seconds.

Same

I try to get them excited.

Stare them down. Invade their personal space. Put your fingers in their face. Not being overtly hostile just enough to shake them up. Then they'll embarass themselves.

until you run into someone who can see past those childish ploys and gets at you with actual facts.
i've spoken truth to power when these tactics where used.

they wind up embarrassing themselves.
