Nah, beef muscle tissue is too dense for most parasites to thrive in. Thus why you can get away with cooking only the outside surface and eat the inside virtually uncooked and have no issues. I'm sure the restaurant used some process to sterilize the outer surface of his steak.
Chicken & pork, however, the muscle tissue is stringier and looser, thus giving parasites a pathway to embed themselves deep into the meat cut of poultry and swine. Thus why both of those have to be thoroughly cooked, unlike beef.
