All through high school I just walked up to a random person or a group of people and said something to start a conversation and that's how it started.

I don't think I can do that in the streets though. A random 6'8" black dude walking up do people who don't me? That's just asking for some shyt.

How and where do you approach people? I've been awkward my entire life, and I got a terrible stutter. I probably won't talk to anybody from HS so I gotta get to know new people but I truthfully don't know how to do this?

Turn a situation where you're in the same spot with someone for whatever reason, then just spit some banter. See if a nikka bite on a subject or a style by which you speak.

Try practicing things to say, topics that you're comfortable talking about. Not everyone is born with the skills needed to converse. Sometimes you have to practice being social. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Your fears are unfounded. Nothing is going to happen to you if you try to talk to someone. Even if the conversation goes bad, nothing terrible will happen to you — save for a few moments of embarrassment, which is only human.

Practice your social skills in the mirror, and topics and scripts that you feel comfortable with. Until you're comfortable enough to be yourself of course. It takes time. Good luck.

Can you tell the shady ones apart though? Again, in school you pretty much have an idea of who's cool and not. Is it that simple in life too?

Yeah, I got into Auburn... So getting friends is easier in college?
really easy in college. Those be your realest friends who will break a leg for you. Get your social media game up, it's easy to meet new friends on Twitter/Instagram. When they see you on campus they'll recognize and connect.

Breh you'll be fine. :mjlol:

I have two associates who go there. One is an oreo, social butterfly so he obviously had no problem. The other was a lone wolf. He has more associates and friends than he knows what to do with. Even as simple as something as a random trips to the rec, you'll run a game or two with someone and dude
will mention something that you both end up conversing about for the rest of the day.
You don't even have to extroverted to meet people in school. Just leave your room.
Just don't make the mistake of considering everyone who invites you to a party or comes to kick it over a couple of beers and a game of 2K as your "friend."
Still, make sure to network and play politics if you have to. I can't stress that enough.
