How do you propose discussing immigration without sounding like a racist/nazi/xenophobe?

I don't agree with Trump on damn near anything. And I certainly don't like his tone.

But immigration IS a problem.

60% of the illegal immigration is through Mexico. The rest are people who just overstay visas and evade the INS etc.

So how can we address this without sounding like hateful a$$holes?

I think most people come off sounding wrong in immigration discussions by only focusing on illegal immigration from Mexico and framing it completely in the accusatory tone of "They are taking our jobs! They are ruining our neighborhoods! They are increasing crime! They are getting free stuff!" instead of looking at the entirety of the immigration problem and the causes of it.

I'm not interested in going back to the 1850s so you can think you have an argument.

We're talking about right now. Borders exist. You can't re-fight every lost war 100+ years later.

And right now Europeans are still fukking over every other people in the world for their own selfish personal reasons. This is why I can't take 98% of the bullshyt they say seriously.

Let's look at mexico for example. Most "Mexicans" are natives who got raped by Spanish colonizers and Vatican rulers. They have more claim to California, Texas, Arizona etc. Than ANY peckerwood who just showed up.

- Why are unskilled workers are moving IN? Because SOMEBODY is employing them : there is a demand. Who benefits from the cheap employees? Businesses, and consumers (me and you) who can buy stuff for cheap.
- Why are unskilled workers moving OUT of their countries? In a lot of cases, because big businesses have taken up their livelihood. Example : in Europe there are a lot of "unskilled" Senegalese migrants. But actually they do have a skill : they were fishermen. Problem is, huge fishing boats from EU countries have been capturing all the fish off the shores of Senegal (in international waters, where Senegalese fishermen can't go because they don't have the same powerful boats). Result : those fishermen are now out of a job. Same with "free trade" agreements forced down the throat of African countries : Western goods (which are often subsidized) flood African markets at a lower price than local stuff, so local producers lose their livehood.
