It's possible but I just don't think that's where the error was. Even with Hibbert in there, he can't defend the basket from all angles of attack simultaneously. He's just not athletic enough to immediately cover for everyone else's mistakes.
As far as whether or not Hibbert should have been in the game, I see the arguments both ways. As long as George stays in front of LeBron and lives with the jumpshot, it doesn't matter who is underneath.

So he blocked him once. Much more often than not, LeBron gets the layup. Any defensive scheme that results in LeBron driving toward the basket for a layup is probably going to be unsuccessful and that's true no matter what shot blockers you have down there. Im not sure why I'm one of the only ones that thinks they never should have allowed penetration in the first place :mindblown:

The only error I saw is that George overplayed and they didn't have a defensive scheme to funnel him toward the basket or anything. Once he let LeBron by, no one was in position to help. In other words, George HAD to play back and allow the jumpshot. Anything else was suicide.

If Hibbert was in there, he would have had to immediately commit once George took himself out of the play and someone would be wide open under the basket. Game winning layup no matter how you slice it :manny:

Thank You. I keep tryin to tell people that they need to stop puttin all this on Vogel. Put the blame on Paul George for bein in a horrible defensive postion. What was PG thinkin?

Even if Hibbert was in the game, Bosh would have taken him away from the basket. Hibbert would not have guaranteed a stop.

Roy had the baseline as a help defender on that play. Melo could only attack him from one angle. LeBron would have been able to switch hands or go either direction on him. The chances of him stopping him in that situation are very low.

Then he wouldn't have gotten the shot off in time.

Yall act like the heat had 10 seconds left. They had 2 seconds left, whoever was getting the ball was going to try and score..

people saying hibbert shouldnt of been in there :why: you chance bosh or someone else shooting a J instead of someone driving to the lane..

Here is a question not asked

Why not see lebron making that move and foul the shyt out of him?

Make him earn them points

And I doubt he would have made both of them

paul george should get some of the blame too

I love PG, but he should get most of the blame there. If he stays in between Bron and the basket, it doesn't matter if Hibbert's there or not. Bron would be forced to take a contested jumper or a contested floater.

But because he overplayed his defender, PG gave Lebron an iota of space to make something happen, and that's all a great player like Lebron needs to destroy you.
