Both Bernie and Warren would have lost to Trump. That socialist label would have stuck like mud, especially on Bernie. Trump would win in the Midwest. Warren would have faced sexist attacks and the same moderate or conservative white men who are comfortable voting Biden this time, would not have voted for Warren or Bernie.

White America would have let this country burn for 4 more years just out of fear.

I hope we can extend this thread to all of the 2020 candidates

because I feel

Bernie Kloubachar,

would have lost at the head of the ticket

Yang, Steyer and Warren I have winning

toss-up on Kamala, and Buttigieg, but lowkey I think Williamson might have won on some reverse-uno shyt

Obama really did some puppet master/ backroom dealings with the last few weeks of the primary, so we'll never know what might have truly happened

I voted better but he would need the unequivocal support of the Democratic Party, which is something he never really had and he'd be more dependent on who he packed as a running mate.

So he would do better with people who are least likely to show up to the polls :russ:

:manny: yes

Not sure before the debates but Bernie would have slaughtered him at the debates tho.

That's true, but debates don't really matter. Trump hasn't won any debate (either this year or 2016), he still won and might win again.

Anybody with a D by their name would have beat Trump handily. Hillary truly was a special case, a special kind of terrible that ran on a white entitlement platform.

Where do some of you get the idea that Bernie is popular? Hes not.
HuffPost is now a part of Verizon Media

Bernie Sanders is by far the most popular politician in America

Bernie Sanders is the most popular U.S. politician, even as some blame him for Clinton's loss

Poll Confirms Bernie Sanders Is the Most Popular Politician in the Country

Slighlty worse than Biden but still would beat Trump. Dem base would support him, especially if he had picked someone like Kamala as VP. There is a sizable population of Bernie/Trump voters that he would be able to capture in the Midwest and Pennsylvania. He would get more of the your vote (the youth turnout much more in the general election than primaries, which doomed him).

:dahell:

But everybody not named Joe Biden lost the primary. Losing the primary in and of itself tells us practically nothing about how someone would have performed in the general election.

I just don't see how he would have won a general, if he couldn't even get enough votes to win a primary. A lot of Democratic people were really divided on Bernie, but they were fine with Biden. Where was his coalition? Where were his new voters? They didn't show for the primary, and I have no faith they would in a general, because they may not be as many as imagined. I would have voted for Bernie, or anyone on the ticket, but he was dead in the water this time.

How do you think he won the first three states? :unimpressed:

The 'healthcare candidate' would have done very well by consistently lying about healthcare.

This board is amazing sometimes. We just spent the past 4 years hearing about how Bernie supporters in the 2016 election are the reason Trump is in office and how so many "Bernie Bros" ended up voting for Trump and are actually MAGA, but yet somehow if he actually had the support of the party as the 2020 nominee he'd still end up in 4th place behind Trump, Kanye, and the ghost of Lyndon Larouche.

He came in 2nd in the 2016 and 2020 Dem primaries, so that should prove he'd be getting mollywhopped in the general because he couldn't secure the nomination, but of course everyone who finished WORSE than Bernie would be giving Trump the business right now.

The logic used to constantly shyt on Bernie in here is about as airtight as a convertible with the doors open, but let's keep it going :stylin::dj2:

Bernie would’ve got washed. Biden can potentially take Arizona, Texas and Georgia, it’s a real possibility he might get one or two of those states :picard: No redneck racist cac in those places would vote for Bernie but they’ll consider Biden like they’re doing now.

Is there a cost to bringing these "racist cacs" in to the fold?
I understand the ultimate goal is winning and getting Trump out of office, something I will personally help with when I vote but rubs me the wrong way that we have to pander to racists to do so. Makes me wonder what progress we will see once Trump is out.
