How do you think the younger generation views "old" sports highlights?

i didnt say it didnt look different, just not as different as the 70s to 90's.

And really, football is the main culprit. Baseball and basketball look fairly similar to the 90's
For a kid born in 2000, it looks foreign as fukk.

Basketball especially looks different just by judging jersey sizes and how muscular guys are today.

Baseball players look smaller than in the 90s

Nostalgia

No...u are intertwining "excitement" with speed of the game. They ran up and down all game back then. Like I said, I'll give u excitement because there is no objective measure for that. Speed can be measured objectively and thats all I am addressing.

we must be looking at this differently because them 60's/70's cats look much slower going up and down the court, i'm not sure what objective measure you're using that proves my eyes wrong. :manny:

Both of you are right.

The game was more uptempo back then because Defense is a relatively new concept in Basketball. There was NO defense being played back then.

But the players today are MUCH faster

there hasn't been that much of a shift in the game from the 90's-today in the NBA, but the game was markedly slower and more fundamental in the 60's/70's. NFL has a higher volume of passes and offensive scoring today, but the 80's-early 00's have much better defensive highlights. baseball highlights are underwhelming no matter the period :heh:

but yea, i don't see people being :ld: about 90's highlights, the games look the same for the most part.
I love you but none of this is true

The NBA was very slow in the 90s

OH

Well she is right about ball movement, etc
Her issue, and the issue of everyone that is an NBA fan, is that the NBA didn't invest in video until the 80s. They didn't collect original broadcasts and didn't have something like NFL films. A lot of game footage is lost and that's why you see slow and grainy 9mm film of players.

If you watch live broadcasts of those games, you can see it was very fast and had a high tempo and players weren't non athlete robots.

I know people my age range love highlights from the 80s-90s when it comes go basketball or football. 2K gave a lot of us this interest in basketball from 60s onward

NFL highlights are timeless. You guys are talking about 80s and 90s. I swear I could watch black and white videos of football highlights all day :banderas:

B&W highlights are where I checkout.

That's what I say. In 2015 you can still comfortably watch highlights from 1995. But if it was 1985 and ur watching b&w highlight from 1965....nah

you keep saying this from your perspective.

Kids today are watching games in HD and dont wanna be bothered with that cloudy standard def stuff. Of course you can watch it because you grew up then, just like the 28+ year old person in 1985 would have no issue watching tape from 1965 because thats what they had.

Thats why these type of threads suck because no one can step out of their lens.

Dude, there's a marked difference between watching standard def and black n white.

I wasn't even alive when black n white was around.....these kids today were alive in the standard def era.

thats the flipping point :dead:

you cant take answer this question because you cannot take your viewpoint out of it.

Earlier you tried to say the NBA looks the same as it did in the 90s which is just not true at all. But you said that because you watched the game in the 90s and saw the evolution of the sport without actually realizing it.

You tell a 10 year old to watch some of those 90s games and they would prolly talk about how cloudy the TV looks and how distracting that s. Then those who get pass that wonder why the uniforms are so wet looking and so tight. ANd why they look skinny and play so slow.
