Because rap now is saturated with nothing but bullshyt; music now is just 'make that new catchy song,' 'not make a good album.' As long as you making that next catchy song, you good.

I think now you probably make more money off a catchy ass song, than a good album. Does anybody know?

Having yes men. Dudes who will let you put out trash because they scared or dont care about your career enough to say its wack.

TI is doing some of the best Rhyming of his career and NO ONE cares. the hiphop consciousness moves on

You buying your favorite artist album has nothing do with this thread. There are Jeezy fans that feel the same way about his music as you do about Nas music but for the larger hiphop consciousness he has fallen off.

The term falling off has always been used to define when an artist is not at the level he once was in rap.

There's nothing immature about younger people wanting to hear older rappers (Old in term of length of their career) music.

There weren't many Pac and Biggie fans buy Big Daddy Kane shyt in 96/97

Yes
Ah okay, I thought we were talking about the quality of their albums, not popularity. Then I agree, the youth (14-20) aint gonna fukk with older rappers.

Lots of reasons mentioned. I think the biggest is just becoming out of touch with the current sound. Rakim could still be dope today if he rocked over an Alchemist beat but he'd never think to do that. Instead he'd find some wack guy on his block to make beats that sound dated or attempt to sound new. That's just what out of touch people do.

Hov is still popular because he's always on top of modern dope production. He's s trash rapper now but kids love the beats. I love a we but he's never been good at picking beats. Thankfully he has enough classic material that his bad ear didn't ruin his career.

Time goes by, and the definition of "hot flow" and "hot production" changes to the average and new hip hop fans. The artist tries to adapt to this new hot flow, but he really doesn't fit.

Loses respect with the old fans, and the new fans are not pleased since it doesnt sound like [insert hot artist in the game].
