bruh this thread is crazy.....you arent a street dude dont even try to get down with any, thats never gonna be your lane. think of ways to get creative without having 100 dudes mean mugging in your video.
It's a little more complicated than that tbh. When I say i'm not a street cat I mean I'm not gang banging or pulling moves or dealing. But when it comes to being comfortable in the hood element, I am because I'm from there.
Also in a city like Atlanta you have to get put on to a degree. Everybody out of the A is connected to a certain element. You don't make it out without that tbh. Hell even meeting producers or going to a studio its gonna be full of street nikkas. It's not something you can avoid. Even the Asap nikkas hang with them in atl.

Ian connor and soulja boy are giant lames but even they had to get that cosign to a degree

Father is plugged in with awful records and he is friends with Key! and manman savage a street cat

Makonnen isn't respected and has no career

MadenTyo still has to collab and work with artist with street ties.

No matter what you still have to befriend certain people

You gotta know nikkas that know nikkas that know nikkas.

If you not in tune with street politics you won't make it, unless you in the backpack/artsy or hypebeast type lane. :manny:
I know nikkas but how do I approach them without seeming like im dikk riding or asking for a handout

Can you do anything other than rap?
If you can't, learn to engineer, produce, or promote....and approach an OLDER person affiliated with them and offer said service for free. "I see we likeminded folks, I'm up an coming and new around here, what's the best way to get noticed? Do y'all need any extra college promo, internet promo, etc.
Hang around venues and smoke with people, soak up information about venue capacity, their promo methods, and where the money is coming from, soak up convos and throw phrases and new slang in your verses. Don't seem too eager, be nonchalant but energetic in approach. SMILE.
Best advice in the thread

I know how to audio engineer and I can promote. But I would think the old heads have paper but nothing wrong with asking

this chit isn't for everybody. if youre not street, then don't try to squeeze into those circles.

best thing to do is find an oldhead who might take you under their wing as an intern. you'd meet a lot of people that way, and you can be yourself without worrying about trying to impress somebody.
if yall still have mom-n-pop stores, try hanging down there.

also, try having more to offer besides wanting to rap.

other than that, stick to the internet. if youre genuinely into the backpack, hypebeast and/or hipster waves, then youre betting off hoppin in that realm like the ASAP Mob did.....but even with that, you still gotta know people. its rare that someone LEGITIMATELY blows up off the internet like people claim. theres usually money & connects behind that.
basically I have the RHQ and Gunna background I went to school and was a good kid that wants to rap. I have the voice, flow and talent but im stuck on the connects part lol

I'm not in the hype beast lane at all and the music I make is influenced by what I see so my content tends towards by surroundings lol
So the internet wave aint the way for me i think
