He must have sold much of his stake in the company if he was a co-founder.
Monster didn't own the company, never did. Monster was like Foxconn in that they manufactured the headphones on a contract basis. We all know this because a bit over a year or so ago Beats didn't renew their manufacturing contract with Monster and went with someone else and the Monster name vanished off the packaging and product.

Dell is just a name that company could have been called anything but let's be honest. if Beats were just called Beats and not Beats by Dre the company wouldn't exist as we know it today if at all. That whole company exist like it does because it's an extension of Dr Dre's brand.
He was just a spokesman. Wasn't a co-founder. Some guys came up with an idea and approached him and asked him to put his name on it. I don't know the full history on Beats but it was supposedly Iovine's and Dre's brainchild.george foreman was only making about 40% of the profit from those grills
