Stop hating.

It dont matter if you write your raps

Pooularity/sales>>>>writing your own sh*t

Drake is popping and yall cant stand it

:umad:

If he can do this well with ghostwriters who are inferior to him inagine how unstoppable he will be once he writes everything himself. :wow:

This is the mentality of today's rap fan.
Sales... Drake doesn't make much money from "sales". Cash Money and Baby is taking most of that. His WRITERS and PRODUCERS are getting some more of that seeing how he would own most of his publishing.

So "winning" is via endorsement deals which has nothing to do with music... and as far as "popularity" that's relative. Name me 10 people who know who Drake is and I can name you 10 who don't. This is about the MUSIC. If being a fraud in hip hop is cool then so be it. But don't try to say he "makes hit records" when he doesn't write or produce jack shyt.

This presupposes that he writes nothing...which I don't know if you dudes actually believe or are just running with as an intellectually dishonest talking point

Having had someone else help write portions of songs for you (and entire songs) =/= you not writing at all, or not writing the majority of your material ...one of the biggest reasons this has been next to a non-issue with industry types (outside of it being waaaay more commonplace then I guess people want to believe) is the fact that Drake is a known entity as a writer, for himself and others...so when these supposedly damning reference tracks leak and it's dude doing the hook and literally 2 or 3 bars the response is :manny: instead of "omg drake's a talented fraud that has never put pen to pad" ...

But outside of that, there's the whole kanye/puff type thing where you don't directly make the beat nor a lot of the lyrics but "mastermind" the whole process or what have you..but that's different

it's like this. ghostwriting has been common place for years.. but its called "ghostwriting" for a reason. And rappers who used them made a point for it not to get out because your credibility as an artist would be killed. People like Puff and Dr. Dre and various other people (Angie Martinez even made music) who are widely known to have other people write for them were/are accepted because they were not claiming to be top 5 MC's or brag about their lyrical ability. Drake on the other hand does. He can lip sync on records for all I care but he should be in the SAME category as Sean Combs, he should not be considered an MC, and he should be looked at in the same light as a Tag Team woomp there it is. A novelty act.

I'm only mad that the people that know better but still subscribe to the excuses and try to rationalize irrational logic. It's ok to call a spade a spade. If he's still successful then so be it. But recognize it for what it is. There will be a million more Drakes. He will have his run and then die out when someone else comes along. But in terms of legacy.. don't mention this clown with Nas or Tupac or Rakim or Kane or G Rap or Raekwon or Lupe. He's not on that level. He's an entertainer who happens to rap. It is what it is.

THIS is what I don't get. :mindblown:

Writers/Producers don't get the credit they deserve... but that's neither hear not there. The fact that Drake gets a pass because he makes hit records contradicts the whole premise of him not writing his own music. SOMEONE ELSE is making the hit records. Drake just mimics someone's hits.

This isn't like R&B because a singers voice can change the whole make up of a song. Rap is different. Lyrics and hook instrumentals. Drake doesn't have the best voice, flow or delivery. In fact he borrows flows depending on what record he jumps on. So how does one get credit for "making hit hit records" :dahell:

Lauren Hill caught back lash because it came out she didn't write/produce her debut record. She was never the same after that. I know I'm beating a dead horse but gotdam the ignorance is so blatant its hard not to go :wtf:
Drake writes songs for other artists so he does write songs so this thread is a waste
