More a remake than GOW3. Neither one should lose ratings. It's a stupid premise.
How does Gears of War go from a 9.6 to a 7 in 9 years?

They're reviewing the remaster as a new game. Different person, different time etc.
Edit: if the original got a lower score but the remaster got a higher score, people would then accuse journalists of bias because "it's the same game with better graphics!"

Breh, you have to think of 13 year old Little Jimmy who never played Gears of War before. He owns an Xbox One and visits his favorite videogame website, Gamespot.com, every day. Little Jimmy can't buy a lot of games so he trusts Gamespot.com to help him with their game reviews. So when he sees that the Gears of War: Remaster review, it needs to be honest about how good the game is now.

The site should provide a link to the original review. The site should responsibly report that the game is old and then proceed to rate the quality of the remaster. Little Timmy is 13. Therefore he can read. Therefore he can clearly see that the game is old as fukk and not a brand new release. There's a million YouTube videos of the original game out there for him to see if he's interested or not. It's just that simple. The game is more geared towards original fans of the series anyway. Everything isn't for everybody. There's too many outlets and ways to figure out if ur interested in a purchase or not. Especially on something that's been out for 9 years.

They routinely improve AI and gameplay in remasters such as GTAV, wind waker HD, DmC so Gears shouldn't get a pass because it's gears

They routinely improve AI and gameplay in remasters such as GTAV, wind waker HD, DmC so Gears shouldn't get a pass because it's gears

I used to game with the old sohh crew all the time. What made gears online enjoyable for me were the actually players.
Other than that, gears was very linear even online.

. They should've just remastered all three games and made the online mode based off of Gears 3 MP with the best maps from 1 and 2 as well as all the maps from 3.

Lol there is no such thing as more of remake. Its either a remake or it isnt. And it isnt.
Gears characters are okay,theres nothing really noteworthy about them.
