How does Gears of War go from a 9.6 to a 7 in 9 years?

Granted the original reviewer now works at Giant Bomb but still. How can a game go from top tier to barely average in 9 years? How can an outlet consider themselves credible if they swing their ratings so drastically? I read the full review and they basically took the old game and made the graphics better. They left the same design flaws in it as well so it's essentially a better looking version of a game they game a 9.6 to.

But I guess this isn't the first time they've done this Ocarina of Time somehow went from a perfect 10 to an 8.5

The same reason why Call of Duty 4 was a gamechanger and Advanced Warfare being 'meh'. There is nothing that changes the way you play the game. It's a remake, a rehash, a redo. "We've done this before."

Perfect Dark Zero Review
Perfect Dark Zero got a 9 out of 10. Gears of War is now inferior to Perfect Dark Zero? Or should we consider their review of PDZ having been from so long ago that that score doesn't count anymore?

This is why game journalism and the integrity of these people are a joke. AAA games will get good scores but the outlets given enough time won't even stand behind the scores they give.

I mean, if you loved the OG Gears, you'll love this.

But now that I think about it, 9 years is a long time in gaming years, a lot of kids did not experience Gears when it first dropped. An 18 year kid was 9 when the original game dropped

Shooters now a days all have radars, all have aim assist on console, they're going to pick up this game and be like as the veterans hand their asses to them.

I'm pretty sure the people buying this game aren't just buying it for the campaign

we've played games that are better, faster, more exciting, with more compelling stories within the span of 9 years. Plus shooters is in that genre of games that age horribly if you play them objectively.

They did this with Resident Evil Code Veronica as well as a few other games. I believe they shouldn't rate games that already got classic ratings. I believe when rating a remake they should just rate how good of a port it is. U can't just take the original rating of a game away like that.

Doesn't matter. The game came out when it came out. The rating should stand. I've literally only seen this type of shyt done as frequently as its done with video games. No other form of entertainment does this type of shyt on the scale these video game reviewers do it. It takes the value away from the original rating.
