Humans are probably the most adaptable resilient species on the planet now, so would need something sudden and cataclysmic on earth to wipe out humans totally. Like a huge asteroid.
War (AI and climate change will be two of the underlying causes - job losses, mass migration from coastal cities and countries threatened by rising sea levels, shortage of food from abnormal weather conditions, etc -which all will lead to very volatile situations) will wipe out a large part of humanity and then as AI reaches singularity, it will view us as a liability and kill off the rest of us.
