Above the fray.
And the actual memories outside of school?
Depending on what types of resources are available in the school district or at parents disposal, students have a block of time Monday to Thursday to do homework and study.
Friday and weekends there is more free time for activities and events.

Kid is going to have fun, socialize, and have hobbies like a normal kid, but learning and reinforcing school lessons is the top priority.

Wasn't there a thread stating that 7th grade children reading at a 4th grade level?

Better be with the kids and help them with their homework. You don't know what kind of bullshyt them teachers are telling your kids.

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high

:jbhmm:

I think there needs to be at home reinforcement, but I kinda agree with the parent. I also think it depends on your child’s skills. If your child is falling behind in math and reading, you should be making sure they are doing exercises at home.

I actually agree. Those 4 hours are precious. Homework shouldn't take more that 15 or 30 minutes if that

..it is a Life Skill. at least I treat it as such
Any fathers on here? Homework creates a sense of responsibility and gives them something to be held accountable for.. gets them used to following schedule on and weekly basis that defines structure in their lives.. they do their chores before school; go to school, practice, shower, dinner/family time and homework after..I also use homework time to kick it with them before bed

By the time they’re old enough to facilitate themselves/prioritize their own responsibilities without my guidance I hoped to have instilled a lil something in them.

how important is homework really?

like in highschool that shyt counts/counted for like 5-10% of the actual grade. Test’s/Essays/Projects counted up for the majority of it so homework is pretty useless in high school

as far as op that parent just sound lazy the same way she expects the school system to teach they kids in 8 hours she can fit her family time over the weekend plus those 4 hours every school day

Motherfukkers are just lame and want someshyt to bytch about

The problem is the homework is busy work......like I used to get with the show all the work so I can see you understand instead of teaching in class that they understand. I find alot of them on that let me show you 8 ways to get to the same place and have the kids confused...... there is no easy solution.......and every situating isn't the same.....I do know that there is an active concerted effort to keep kids dumb ass fukk and in the same train of no thoughts just worker drones.......

The school is suppose to teach and educate the child along with the parents as well , its not an either or, in a perfect scenarioe the teacher and the parent works hand in hand to train and raise the child up there is a saying it takes a village to raise a child, i concur!

i'm not a parent but i feel like people are projecting the homework feeling as an adult on the kid.
yeah of course, the typical washed up parent with no patience is going to dread seeing their kid fukk up spelling dog over and over again and dread not remembering how to carry the one in long addition problems.
but the kids probably appreciate the attention, ANY kind of attention as long as you aint scoffing at them for getting it wrong.
make it fun! then maybe kids won't grow up hating education
just a thot

For elementary school, perhaps, but if you’re only doing 15 to 30 minutes of self study across all subjects you’re going to fall behind your peers and the earlier you fall behind, the harder it is to catch up.

when i was a kid in grade school we damn sure spent more than 30 minutes on homework.. probably 60-90 mins. don't know if it was because we fooled around or I was counting lunch breaks. i do remember we still had to watch cartoons by 4pm tho. I don't have much memories of my parents helping with homework during middle school since we sometimes hung out with friends at the library to do our homework together.
