As we know, Jay-Z recently signed a deal with Universal - which must of been a huge deal seeing as it was handled by Lucian Grainge. For his label to be distributed directly through Universal, that puts RocNation on the same level as Interscope

And you know Jay-Z in 2013, with all the years in the business got a better deal than Baby did with Cash Money Records.

How do you think Universal feels about Jay-Z's deal with Samsung and people involved in the project (including Jay-Z), Timbaland saying that they don't need the labels anymore

It's going to be interesting to see what his first week numbers are. A normal first week for Jay is between 300-500k so if it does a lot less than that I'm sure universal wont be too happy

They have no choice but to deal with the dualities of the new rules the god mc has set for the music industry :blessed:

:pachaha:

He probably signed a deal with them that puts him in charge of multi-$100 million dollar budgets and he just gonna say, "I don't needa label no more" :smughov:

Doesn't matter what they think, they know they'll make money in this deal (which can't be said for most albums in 2013) and also, gets him back in the UMG fold, which gives them a certain amount of prestige in the eyes of big business.

It's no different than Drake's "bidding war"

Labels know fans are trying to buy dreams, it's their job to sell them.

and no, NOBODY got a better distribution deal than Baby did with Universal... and Jay's deal isn't even close what Percy pulled off with Priority either.

have you seen the contracts terms breh? :lupe:
