Now I'm the furthest thing from being some bleeding heart liberal, but this is disgusting. Sandow literally came out, and called an arena full of people illegals and told them to go back where they came from. I could somewhat understand when Swagger and Colter did it because that was a part of their gimmick at the time, or when guys that were feuding with Hispanic wrestlers did it. But this served no purpose other than take a crap on the Hispanic people in the audience. Sandow doesn't have a feud with Sin Cara, and if it wasn't for the excuse to put this trash on TV Sin Cara probably wouldn't have even been used. The sad thing is you know Vince was sitting in the back laughing his behind off, and the guy does these types of segments so much that's how he probably truly feels.

This is the first time I've watched Smackdown in months, and I'm glad I did because WWE is never getting another dollar from me. If that Del Rio story is true I hope he sues this company for every cent he can get.

I understand that it's about getting heat, but given the article that just came out in The Atlantic, and what JUST happened with Del Rio, did it ever occur to them that this might generate the wrong kind of heat?

If publicity makes people see you as unrepentant racists, how does that translate to quality television and drawing money? There are ways to get heat on your heels without showing your dubious racial politics for the world to see.

See now this type of stuff doesn't really bother me, heels are supposed to piss people off that's their job. :yeshrug:

But that Del Rio story if true I'm tossing the network in the bushes and might even stream raw from now on. :manny:

My thoughts - this kind of stuff doesn't really bother me if you present yourself as a show that will touch on controversial subjects and occasionally cross the line (though this was mad cheap and benefits nobody). However, the WWE presents itself as a family friendly PG show, and somehow blatant racism is matter-of-factly written into the show. Like Steve Austin has to edit his schtick now, but a muhfukka can come out in a border patrol costume talking about "masked illegal."

Imagine if Sandow would have came out in Atlanta, and told everybody to go back to Africa. All the white people in the IWC would have that same response if black people got mad.

The sad thing is if If Vince could get away with it he'd probably do it :snoop:
Sandow's character now is just to come out and dress up as whatever lowest common denominator character that can get the cheapest heat from the local crowd. Usually its an athlete or local news story. The border issue continues to be a hot-button political and social topic, especially in Texas and Arizona. Any comparison to black people/Africa makes no sense.

Most importantly, Sandow is portrayed as a GOOFBALL HEEL not even to be taken seriously, and he always gets squashed. Because of that, this is harmless. Its certainly nothing close in offensiveness to say, the Haitch and Booker feud.
