Bruh I was in the military & I met several Dominicans who got PISSED when you called them black 😭

I just felt Uncle Ruckus vibes, I didn’t know this was a bigger problem than the few I met

│ │ │ This is just a regular Tuesday in the Bronx. I'm not exaggerating. I've witnessed numerous Dominicans get emotional, even violent at the suggestion that they are Black.

│ │ │ I'm afro Latina, and I have never made any qualms about my blackness. That said, I've had dominican people with the same or more pronounced African features than I have, call me "Black" as an insult.

Times like this, thank God that I came from a culture that is proud of black skin. Regardless if you FBA/Haitian/Jamaican or elsewhere, don't ever c00n out like most Dominicans
