How exactly did Puffy make a half a billion?

I mean I know how 50 got his launch (vitamin water), I know Birdman got it from owning the cash money masters and having shares in universal (that's owning masters AND getting a cut of the distribution, as well as managing the tours and artists ), I know Jay got his 1% elite launch from Def Jam Presidency and Roc masters.

But what about Puffy? What tipped him over into the top elite? I know it wasn't the clothing line or acting or music sells, it wasn't being the president of a record label. Something else had to have put him in the elite bracket.

Did he buy the masters from Arista? I'm trying to research and all it's giving me is that Bad Boy was under arista then juggled under other distributors, where was he getting his large cut? I can't find what the Bad Boy + Arista deal was, and who had the rights to the masters anywhere online.

of course, if he owned ciroq he'd be a multi billionaire. He does however own shares (like 50 with Vitamin Water) and that's what put him over.
