Black people are already treated like shyt, so generally we do not want to be perceived as weak or embarrass our family. "Every family has secrets", "every person has a cross to bear" but we are taught to suck it up and move on. Most black folk know that "auntie brenda" is more than a friend or a roomate, that the choir director has a lil extra sugar in his tank but we dont ask details. We sweep it under the rug and dont air our dirty laundry.
"It's hard enough being black, why would you wanna be black and gay."
Now though after activism and homosexuality becoming more mainstream, people are more accepting but there is still the idea that femininity equals weak, and gay dudes are weak.
