Maybe its too close to the decision he made. But these same things were said about LeBron during the Heat run. They said those rings wouldnt count...he broke the league...LeCheat.....LeRunner...Quitness etc. I just dont think those things stick if he keeps producing
I think its just that time erases narratives. When Kobe holds up 5 fingers you dont think of Shaq. When you see Clydes ring, nobody cares he joined Hakeem. When Wade shows his 3 rings, nobody cares Bron carried him to 2 of them, people just say hes the 3rd best shooting guard of all time.I don't understand why people want to give KD a pass so much.

After Brons second ring people were saying Ray saved his life. They didnt even want to talk about game 7Well durant has won two rings and people still has him
After lebron won one they dikkrode
I’m a huge Durant fan. This sucker move he pulled doesn’t hurt how I view him

This exactly, that's the thing about KD in these conversations and how I generally look at rings is "can this player get replaced by a certain All-Time great and will that team still win a ring" Kobe won with his 2nd best option as Pau Gasol (who don't get me wrong is really good) BUT KD 3rd option on the Warriors (Klay) is better than Gasol.Context
KD Playing with a team with 3 perennial all stars one of whom is easily a top 5 shooter of all time and a two time MVP, another that is a former DPOY and another that has scored 35+ in a quarter, all in their primes with few derailing injuries.
Its a little bit different than Kobe, brcause if you take KD off those Championship Warriors teams they still make the finals and are 73-9. You take Kobe off those last two Championship teams and they are 10th seed and win maybe 35 games.
All things should be considered brehStop looking at accolades and look at the context
In 10 years everyone will be talking about this GS team ahead of Jordan's Bulls nobody is gonna be tripping about the easy path to rings they are gonna be talking about dominance and nobody beating them.

But does mentality matter if he wins more and puts up better numbers with his "weak" mentality. All it will mean is he would have been even better had he been tougher mentally. I think the mainstream media sort of ignores KD because Bron is the cash cow, but the "best player post Jordan" race is tighteningTalent wise Durant is up there with all the greats.
But amongst the greats it's not the talent that separates them from each other, it's the mental & heart aspect of the game.
When it comes to mental toughness, which is difficult to quantify, Durant will never come close to Kobe.
