All things should be considered breh
KD 29ppg in the playoffs 2 fMVP
Kobe 27.4 in the playoffs 2 fMVP (i even removed Kobes first 2 playoff appearances (8.2 and 8.7ppg)
KD single handily devalued what winning a ring means. Hes literally on an all-star 5 right now. The Warriors right now beats the East all-stars.

KD is great talent and he can win 8 rings. He will never be in that Lebron/Kobe/MJ tier. It is what it is.

Since he has a chance to chase Kobe the narrative is different now....he'll surpass MJ with 6 rings.:mjlit:

TYRONE GA!
Well durant has won two rings and people still has him

After lebron won one they dikkrode

I’m a huge Durant fan. This sucker move he pulled doesn’t hurt how I view him

Thing I don't like is cats giving Bron a pass But wanna villify KD with juelzin.

I don't see KD passing Kobe unless he ends up with 6 rings in old school cats minds. Even then nikkaz still gonna be like nope. But These young nikkaz don't give a fukk about the way we think.

The whole "rings" or you weren't an all time great narrative has fukked shyt up big time. Nobody wants to be the butt of jokes like Barkley. Fans created this monster leading to the Decision in 2010 and the aftermath we see now.

KD may very well be the better player but Kobe transcended

Im a bulls fan and have Jordan as the GOAT. But if KD gets
6 rings
6 finals MVPs
The discussion should be open for GOAT. He is the best offensive player I have ever seen outside of Mike

I dont think its fair to criticize Golden State like:
'15 "everybody they played was hurt...asterisk :bryan: "
then
'16 "they choked away a 3-1 lead :bryan: front running chokers"

which are fair points, but then to say

"KD's rings dont count because he joined a juggernaut :camby:"

cant play both sides :manny:

I think its just that time erases narratives. When Kobe holds up 5 fingers you dont think of Shaq. When you see Clydes ring, nobody cares he joined Hakeem. When Wade shows his 3 rings, nobody cares Bron carried him to 2 of them, people just say hes the 3rd best shooting guard of all time.

It doesn't erase reality, believe that.

If people want to compartmentalize basketball as strictly entertainment then I guess it's whatever, but if you follow basketball then I fail to see how KD's move is anything but disagreeable...bordering on unsightly.

But does mentality matter if he wins more and puts up better numbers with his "weak" mentality. All it will mean is he would have been even better had he been tougher mentally. I think the mainstream media sort of ignores KD because Bron is the cash cow, but the "best player post Jordan" race is tightening

I think when you're comparing the legends, you parse every aspect of their game. Everyone is elite so you have to look at the little details.

Does it matter to you? It depends on what details each fan thinks is important. That's what makes these debates fun.

I did hear many legends, from Jordan to Magic Johnson, quoted as saying the deeper into the playoffs you go the more the game becomes mental. So, I do think the mental aspect is very, very important.

I do too, but I think he has passed the mental challenge, no? He went against the best player of this generation face to face and took his soul in his gym twice. My eyes told me Bron was afraid to guard him. Thats the only mental part that matters to me. He played alongside Westbrook and won an MVP and 4 scoring titles, thats mental toughness on the court. All the burner accounts and passive aggression dont matter to me. He has passed the mental challenge with flying colors.

People would say Kobe is 2nd in "mental toughness" to Mike but people rank Magic ahead of Kobe so :yeshrug:. But its definitely great debating

Maybe its too close to the decision he made. But these same things were said about LeBron during the Heat run. They said those rings wouldnt count...he broke the league...LeCheat.....LeRunner...Quitness etc. I just dont think those things stick if he keeps producing
Yeah but LeBron earned all his goodwill back by beating the 73 win Warriors and bringing a championship to Cleveland. It was around then I seen the general public really start to fukk with dude again and it’s crazy how loved he is now.

These dudes must think we're all fukking retarded or something. Not everyone is a casual fan of the sport. Some shyt you can't live down. KD's move fits that category. nikka will get clowned on for years and years after he retires.

I think whatever mental weaknesses Durant possesses is covered up by playing with Steph, Klay, and Draymond Green. They were 73-9 without him.

He already surpassed Kobe. Kobe couldn't do the things KD could do.

KD better than Kobe in every stat :yeshrug:

I think KD is a great player. Kobe is a dominant player that took his team to ships. Big difference.

The path that both players took to get rings is what separates them from one another.

KD could take nights off or have an average game and still get W's

Kobe has to bring it on every possession (I'm reaching) but Kobe had to bring it every game, especially in the playoffs thus me saying that KD would not, in my eyes surpass Kobe.

Now if KD is the main person on a team, like A.D. and he's bringing ships to that team, then we are now changing the narrative.
