This idea came to me because of that thread asking which tv family would you like to be part of.

Anyways, Uncle Phil played by James Avery is revered as one of the best Black fathers in television history. But did he do right by Will?

Will ran through women on the tv show. Had no sexual discipline and tried to get with every attractive women he saw. The vast majority of women he sought after never amounted into anything outside of sex. Did he even see these women outside of being objects for his sexual pleasure?

He constantly lied to, manipulated, and created false personas to get women in bed. In one episode he convinces a woman that was waiting until marriage to have sex to marry him (it was a fake wedding) just so he can have sex with her. Now his guilt got the best of him and he ultimately didn't have sex with her, but that's not the point.

Another episode where he acts classy and tells a woman's father that he was going to become a doctor to impress him so he can get at his daughter. Another episode where he tries to get at Geoffrey's date. The amount of women he stole from Carlton, he cheated on etc.

If I had a son, I would not want him to be controlled by his penis. To go after every attractive women regardless of their character and the type of person they are because they look good. To lie to women to get them in bed.

And if y'all say that the show was all jokes and comedy, then it really isn't a portrayal of a black family you should aspire towards.

You have to remember...we aren't talking about young teens though...

Will was like 17 when he arrived, so for the most part he was already molded in the man he would become. Considering that Phil did a great job with the little he had to work with. Remember Will was the same type of dude to clown Carlton type of people, clowned his own damn cousin relentless. But that episode where the Black Frat wouldn't acknowledge Carlton rubbed Will the wrong way, he wasn't feeling that shyt when they was acting just like Will did in the beginning.

As far as the women, we never got the sign he was really hoeing. Yea he was probably smashing a lot of chicks and using deceitful means to get them, but he seemed like he was going through the traditional courting phases with most of em, actually going out on dates, becoming a couple, shyt like that. Lisa was the first one who just lasted long and who he considered marrying. But he never really came off as the smash and dash type, or the type to have 6-7 hoes on his roster.

Uncle Phil's main job was to keep him on course, make sure he finishes high school and to install some kind of morals in him that would help him mature. Even though Will's weakness was women, if you take a look at the show from beginning to the end, you will see that Will had less schemes as the years went on and he seemed to become more laid back and mature compared to his earlier wild years.
