How has NDSU been a consistently good team?

Their system works, they get a bunch of decent but (whatever knock is on the kid: too short, slow, not big enough, limited tape) they put them in the system get them bigger faster and then unleash them, i remember last year or so they had a starting tackle that came in as a te tall but no real weight, they put him in the program and he was getting some looks by nfl scouts his 5th year in the program

But also like @Trust Me said, it has been some good coaching, and also in the lower ranks usually one program dominates because it’s little talent to go around and not much of a budget to get really good coaches, on that level
Think mount union, Valdosta state, and them schools in Minnesota/Wisconsin in D3

Makes sense.

Get some upper midwest white boys and brehs that could ball in H.S. but didn't quite have the elite measurables to be considered by top P5 schools.

These are dudes that might get a shot at a low tier P5/G5....but no one wants to be on some bottom tier SEC squad where you're getting your azz handed to you every week.. and you still might be low on the depth chart.

The MW lost teams like Boise and SDSU, to the new Pac-12

Schools like JMU and App State has had success at the G5 level, and NDSU has been better than them.

Only thing they can't make a bowl or playoffs for 2 years unless they get a waiver

No doubt the the best fcs school are better than some of the worse fbs school so they will have relative success early.
