Facts! Pedialyte too! Can't tell you how many times I've had to be "mom" to my people who think it's cool to be out in the streets, dehydrated. Especially in Houston when you start sweating just from being outside a few minutes, then it's hot on top of that... It's too much!

:ohhh::ohhh: tell me more cause i can't be damn near dying in these streets

I can't imagine playing football in Houston with all that equipment on. That would be like walking into a sauna.

That's what it feels like! In Dallas, it's like the dry heat of an oven when I walk outside and I feel like my skin is too hot. In Houston, it's like a sauna and I feel hot and sticky.

Stay hydrated, seriously. You'll be alright as long as you're hydrated and know how to cool your body down if you get overheated. There are some electrolytes in drinks like Gatorade and Powerade, but they have a lot of sugar. The reason I give my friends pedialyte (the orange color is fruit flavored and the best tasting) is because it's not like I can give them a saline drip (salt water) and pedialyte has much needed electrolytes your body loses through sweat! I wear a lot of Dri Fit (moisture wicking) clothes in the summer, lighter colors, breathable fabrics. Sundresses and sandals for me... All summer long! Stay indoors during the hottest hours, if you can. Know your body and listen to it when it's telling you something isn't right.

I'm not a doctor, not a nurse although I did learn a lot when I worked in an emergency room. But I am a woman who is an older sister, and "the mom" in my group of friends so I have seen enough to know how to take care of people when I recognize certain symptoms.

You're welcome! Most grocery stores have them, pharmacies, but because it's usually for kids, you'll either find it near the pharmacy or in the children's section where the baby food/formula is located. Adults can drink it too! As for spots to check out, it depends on what you're trying to do, but there's never really a shortage of things to do. When I'm in Dallas or Houston, I'm there to see family and friends, a concert, or shop... So I'm not the best to ask about things to do!

I have spent many summer nights in the pool at 2-3 o clock in the morning! You're right... Cooler is correct, but it's not ever exactly cool.

I was just playing, when I was living in Louisiana the summers were hot all day and night. Sometimes there is a period maybe 4-6 am when it's not so hot, but it's humid. Then around 6:30 the sun comes out and you can feel the heat rising. When I first moved there from LA, I thought it was like Las Vegas/Arizona heat, but that heat is dry heat; with no humidity. The heat in the south is that wet heat, heat with humidity. Plus there are also times when the sun will be out and it will start to rain, call that hot rain. The rain will come out of no where and it will start pouring

I did not have a car, so I had to walk around with a wash towel to wipe the sweat from my face and I always carried a watter bottle. My homie had a truck, but it did not have AC; so riding with the window down was useless becuase you just had hot air blowing in you face. I wore a lot of sun screen and nobody mentioned the mosquitos during the summer, which is a bytch.

Fabric drying sheets work also as an mosquito repellent, some country shyt I learned.
