Wife and I talked early and, happy to say, we've never argued (disagreements, sure) over money considering we've been together for 15 years.

it's not unless i'm considering having a kid with a dude and that never happened lol. even if i was overthinking it for someone i know it wasn't going to last forever with.... my thought was generally that i can financially take care of a kid by myself if it came down to it. so yeah

I don't make hard rules about this or that, but I will say someone willing to contribute, to put up their money, put some equity (or maybe liquidity is better term) on the table, makes them 5x more attractive to me.

If we are staying in a $800 a night hotel, for three nights, pay for one.

if it's a $100 dinner, don't even worry about it, but if it's a $1500 one, put up $400.

This seems to be the key. discuss and figure out where each other stand on different topics early than trying to figure them out midflight

My girl and I have similar mindsets in regards to money, though we have different backgrounds. Her and her family are fukking loaded and have been for a long time (old money) while I grew up poor and only really saw money in my adult years. So money has some importance but it is more how it is being used than how much really. She shops a lot but makes a point to use her own money for it since she knows I pay for a lot of stuff for my family. She's more than happy to so that's not a problem.

planning a wedding is the first time it has really come up and gotten close to arguments lol.

thankfully we both trying to get good deals on shyt. i would hate to be with someone that values the relationship based on how much you spending on the rock/wedding. plenty of them out there, my family friends with a few lol.
