HOW in the hell was Pac better than Nas at rapping?

Look at the trend homeboy, most artists that are held in the same class as pac more often than not start off strong and decline. Nas bounced back after the battle with jay but before that he was shot, and he still hasn't gotten "better". Pac first was his worst...on the other hand got better with every album, and certainly had momentum during that time period to continue that run had he not gotten killed. Even if he happened to "fall off" an album or two down the line after makaveli, i don't see how he couldn't at the very least level off and maintain his quality like nas did after stillmatic.


If you can't see the technical gap between MATW and 7DT (you have to throw thug lyfe vol. 1 in the mix) you weren't really listening close enough. There is a noticeable leap.

Let me get a song, for example. See, people always posit that naS is some sort of lyrical beast. I dont see it. Then every time I ask for examples, literally I have NEVER got an answer.

If someone were to ask me how Lupe is a better lyricist than naS I could EASILY give them the examples.

I don't know if you got what the challenge was about. It was about straight rhyming ability only. These lines aren't especially lyrically. Nas has much more lyrical lines than these. But alright, here's some 2pac lines to match them. Point out where the difference in unique rhyming capabilities is:

All Pac albums, even the posthumous albums are better than illmatic. Most are better than IWW (which I give 4/5 despite "nacho cheese, I'm Castro")

How can illmatic be influential when all the rappers of that day were already doin shyt? Make sense buddy. Maybe in NY where niccaz suck at rapping it was influential, but not anywhere else. Thats why it didnt sell, cuz no one gave a fukk about it.

And explaining bad lyrics doesnt make them better. Theres not a single lyrical or special thing about what you just quoted. nothing.

He wasn't getting better after 7DT stop. 7DT was better because he was more focused, had a good concept and had some of his best production. The fact that you have said 7DT is better than Illmatic is comical.

7DT is considered Pac's best album, yet it also received several average reviews. Im still waiting for you Pac stans to name a better album than Illmatic (not you Recipricol since you think it sucks ), or a better album top to bottom than It Was Written. Just based off influence Illmatic destroys 7DT.

You said yourself this is all subjective, yet you throwing out some kinda consensus what is considered pac's best album...as if MATW isn't "the" defining 2pac album to most people, i feel like that is on par with/better than illmatic. If fact illmatic is probably the nas album i listen to the least besides nastradamus.

All that "influence" shyt is mostly relevant to the region it dropped in. Where i'm from E. 1999 may as well have been the "illmatic" from that era, i don't remember anybody listening to that shyt outside of YO/rap city.

Also, to be such a "focused" record from pac 7DT only took a couple days to write/record in total, given time away from the immediate drama i have no doubt he could have progressed from there.
