How Influential was Mac Dre to the West Coast?

Didn't think east coast cats f*cked with Mac Dre in his YBB days. Was out in Kentucky around 95/96. Louisville cats out in the west end knew about him....

You know whats funny, I found it by accident, I was just fukking around at the record store over downtown and my friend who worked there was like 'check this shyt out, dudes name is Mac Dre' and I was like is this Dr. Dre's cousin? So he let's me hold the tape, and I was surprised as hell, I thought the dude's shyt was dope, so I copped it and turns out to be one of my favorite West Coast records.

the person Dre was, I see his fingerprints everywhere right now.

dreds, MDMA, nikkas dressing any kinda way... can't match his charisma or his wit, though.

Mac Dre got a permanent spot in my top 5 DOA.

Very influential in the Bay Area, Southern California not so much.

Pretty Much this. Although after his death we started hearing alot more about him out here in Southern Cali and eventually his music did get poppin down here. He's a Bay area legend and very respected down south as he should be.

I met so many people in LA who didn't even know who Dre was. But I'm from Central Cali and he is on everybody's top 5 here.

It means he is so deeply rooted into not only the underground hip-hop culture, but also the rave culture . . that people don't even mention his name out here because it would be like laying out the obvious of who they are stealing half of their style from.

You can see it in the way the people here smile for pictures (Thizz Face) . . you can see it in the way the artists 'TURN ON' whenever the camera is on them.

You'd be hard-pressed to find an event that spins his music out here . . not because they don't know it - not because it wouldn't make the place go crazy (actually that might be a reason, insurance policies probably have an anti-Mac Dre clause to prevent damages) . . but because they don't want to promote the man who they stole their whole way of being from.

The only artist to compete with this is Kreayshawn amongst the underage white girl demographic (a rare and dying breed out here, we'll be breeding them out within a couple generations tops)
